HARRIERS.
Christchurch Club Elects New Officers. The Christchurch Harrier Club held its annual meeting last evening, Mr G. G. Lockwood presiding. The balance-sheet disclosed an excess of assets over liabilities of £44 18s, and a credit balance of £5 11s 6d. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr G. P. Crimp; president, Mr A. L. Haslam; vice-presidents, Messrs C. S. Thomas, R. Beattie, G. G. Lockwood, E. H. Cross, W. C. Flewellyn, C. H. Taylor, jun., J. K. Moloney, C. H. Taylor, sen., F. P. Frye, R. O. Page, F. J. Glackin, R. L. Kennett, W. G. Morrison, W. Cookson, R. J. Watson, H. G. Smith, C. L. Martin, C. N. Hamilton, L. .Hill and J. C. Wallace, Mesdames D. Kane, G. Pascoe and C. M. Dymond; club captain, Mr E. A. Sayers: deputy captain, Mr F. H. Cookson; honorary secretary, Mr G. L. Austin; honorary treasurer, Mr G. H. Watson; honorary assistant secretary, Mr W. R. Olliver, committee, captain, deputy captain, secretary, treasurer, assistant secretary and Messrs B. A. Barrer and J. M’Kee; delegate to the centre, Mr E. A. Sayers. In connection with the All Nations Fair sports meeting at the Addington
Showgrounds on April 2, it was decided that the club should support the suggestion for a steeplechase for harriers, arrangements to be left to the Harrier Sub-committee of the Canterbury Centre. It was decided to hold the opening run on April 9, and, if possible, in conjunction with the rest of the Christchurch clubs, the run to bo a road race.A motion was passed to the effect that the incoming committee should be recommended to encourage open handicap racing.
