SPEEDWAY RACING.
Final Meeting of Season on Saturday. The Christchurch broadsiding season will finish definitely at Monica Park Speedway on Saturday evening with a full programme, featuring, in addition to the full contingent of Canterbury cracks, the two famous internationals, Cyril Anderson, of Australia, and Wally Kilmister, of Wellington, who put up such brilliant performances last week. It was expected that the season would end last week, but there were many requests for one more programme. Because there will be no meeting in Wellington this week. Kilmister is available for Monica Park, the management of which decided to accede to the requests made. This will be the last chance the public will have of seeing Kilmister, Anderson and Blacklock before they leave for England. Kilmister was in great form last week and electrified the crowd by his daring riding. He will appear in three match races with Anderson. Anderson put up an amazing performance in covering three laps in 56 3-ssec. In the fourth lap a tyre came off. That mishap robbed him of the honour of beating not only Burton's Monica Park record of lmin 17 3-ssec, but also Frank Pearce’s New Zealand record of lmin 16sec. Both Anderson and Kilmister will attempt to lower the flying mile record on Saturday. Jack Hobson will make another attempt to wrest from Charlie Blacklock the Chevrolet Gold Helmet. There will be handicap, scratch and match races, and this final meeting Bhould be the best yet held.
