Mr Frank Fahy (Fianna Fail), from Galway was elected Speaker by 78 votes to /I and Mr de Valera President by 81 votes to 68. Minister of Fisheries—Mr Patrick Ruttledge. Minister of Justice—Mr Janies Geoghegan. Minister in charge of the Post Office —Senator Joseph Connolly.
