GOLD IN DULLER VALLEY.
Prospector Willing to Take Unemployed. The prospect of making gold in at least paying quantities is offered to four unemployed men who are willing to accompany an experienced prospector on a trip into the head-waters of the Buffer River. The prospector, Mr A. G. Laurence, of Avonhead Road, Riccarton, proposes to leave Christchurch on Monday' next and to extend the trip over a period of two months. Mr Laurence stated this morning that he had had over twenty years’ experience of all types of gold mining and knew where he would at any time be able to make “ wages.” He does not propose to go over the old workings on this trip, however, but to endeavour to open up new country where there were plenty of signs. He has already a party of four, but he is willing to take four more and to train them in the methods of fossicking and mining. The party will work in two’s under his direction and will share all proceeds. Mr Laurence will provide a truck to take the men to the starting point and will also provide all the heavier tools. The members of the party will provide their own food — there is plenty of game in the country' and guns will be carried—and they are asked to provide their own pieces and shovels and sleeping accommodation. The men must be prepared to rough it, but Mr Laurence says that they will be able to make fair wages at all times in addition to the opportunities offered by such a trip.
