SWIMMING.
Races Held by Lyttelton Ladies’ Club. The Lyttelton Ladies’ Swimming Club held its 100yds championship, and a club relay race, In the graving dock this afternoon. Owing to insufficient entries, the 55yds championship was postponed. The 100yds championship carries with it a cup presented by Mrs Colin Cook. Owing to unsettled weather conditions there was a small attendance of onlookers. Results:— 100yds Cliai*pionsliip—Ruth Morris 1, Jessie Gilray 2, Mary Pitcaithly 3. Ruth Morris gained a lead almost from the start, and was only seriously challenged by Jessie Gilray. To the 75yds mark Ruth Morris had a little over a yard of a lead, with a spurt she jumped ahead, and won by 7sec. Mary Pitcaithly challenged Jessie Gilray 10yds from the mark, but the latter won on a touch. Betty Weastell, Pauline SliyleGeorge and Olga Davis also started. Relay Race—Jessie Gilray, Ruth Morris and 'Honor Plimmer 1, Mary Pitcaithly, Pauline Shyle-George and Mavis Gilray 2, Betty Weastell, Betty Bowling and Olga Davis 3.
