STIRRING SEADRAMA.

“ Fifty Fathoms Deep,” a stirring drama of deep sea adventure, will open at the Majestic Theatre on Monday. Here is a picture that has human and exciting moments. It leaves nothing to be desired in the way of realism, and' the deep sea shots are not only thrilling but decidedly interesting. The sound effects under water are marvellous. The plot is well developed dramatically. Briefly, this is what happens. Two deep sea divers, Tim Burke and Pinky Caldwell, are staunch friends in spite of their great difference in age and character. The younger one, Pinky Caldwell, marries a deceitful, golddigging blonde, believing her to be the model for pure womanhood. She causes a rift between the two pals, making them bitter enemies. They are forced to work together again on a wreck—a yacht which is buried in fifty fathoms of water. Tim descends to the wreck in the midst of a raging storm and discovers the bodies of d?inkie’s wife and a well-known man-about-town. In his attempt to hide the evidence and spare his pal he is caught in the wreckage and is unable to free himself. The important part of this film is the underwater work. It keeps the audience in a perpetual state of excitement and wonder. It is a startling and fascinating revelation of the perilous but adventurous existence of deep sea divers. Again Jack Holt comes through with one of his vibrant performances. Loretta Sayers is thoroughly hateful as Pinky Caldwell’s deceitful wife. Although new to the screen, she has mastered a difficult assignment; she plays an unsympathetic character with conviction. Richard Cromwell is splendid as Pinky Caldwell. The box plans are at The Bristol.
