YACHT CAPSIZES.

Attempt to Cross Sumner Bar in Heavy Sea. Attempting to cross the Sumner bar while a fairly heavy sea was running, a yacht sailed by Messrs K. G. Shrimpton and A. M’Grath, capsized at halfpast eleven this morning. Owing to the failure of the electric siren, the men were unable to get help for a time. Then Mr D. Sutherland noticed their predicament. He swam out to their assistance, and helped the yachtsmen to swim to the rocks. Two members of the lifeboat crew went out in a dinghy and attempted to rescue the yacht, but the heavy sea filled the boat, and the attempt was abandoned. The yacht, which was a borrowed one, and had approached the bar from Scarborough, drifted round from the Shag Rock to Redcliffs. Mr Shrimpton later made it secure.
