PIGEON FLYING.
CANTERBURY CLUB RACE. The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club recently flew a race from National Park. Forty-five birds were divided into two sections, East and West. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 6.34 a.m. in dull fine weather. As the birds neared home they flew into rain and head wind, which caused the times to be slow. Only two lofts of the Western section timed in on the day of toss, the others timing in on the following day. The winner turned out to be Mr H. Browning’s Bird No. 31, which flew the distance of 338 miles 24yds airline in 12hr 16min 2sec. Following were the velocities:— Western Section. yds per
