Mr Lyons Declares Against Discrepancies. DIFFERING STATE LEVELS. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received January 20, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 20. Mr Lyons at the conclusion of his visit to Sydney in a speech said that the ridiculous discrepancies between the wages and-conditions in the different States would not work. Wages varied from £3 3s a week for fort3'eight hours in South Australia to £4 2s fid a week for forty-four hours in New South Wales. Mr Lyons told a deputation that the Commonwealth financial position made impossible the restoration of invalid and old age pensions to their former level.
