METHVEN TROTTING CLUB

Committee Holds its Meeting. A meeting of the committee of the Methven Trotting Club was held on Monday evening. Present: Messrs T. S. Harrison (chairman), S. G. Holmes, R. D. Millar, H. Green, W. S. Jones, W. J. Cooksley, W. J. Bennett, C. Goodwin, G. Kelly, J. Dowling, J. M’Anulty, J. H. M’Kendry, Jas. Campbell, A. E. Henderson and Jas. M’Cloy. Before proceeding with the business, a motion of sympathy was passed to Mr J. Connolly, M.P., in his recent bereavement. The manager, Bank of New Zealand, wrote advising that the overdraft rate of interest had been reduced to 7 per cent. The Department Of Internal Affairs wrote advising that a refund of totalisator tax fees amounting to £ll2 16s 3d had been paid to the club’s credit at the Bank of New Zealand, Methven. A notice was received advising that a meeting of delegates would be held in Wellington to deal with the resignation of the members of the Trotting Association. The New Zealand Trotting Association forwarded a copy of evidence in the Ngingongingo case. After discussion, Mr Holmes was appointed to attend the meeting of delegates at Wellington. In connection with the question of an extra permit, it was decided to ask the delegate (Mr Holmes) to make inquiries regarding the matter when in Wellington and to hold over further consideration in the meantime. The secretary reported that all nomination and acceptance fees for the last meeting had been paid, with the exception of £4. It was decided to advise the association of all fees unpaid at January 31. Accounts amounting to £36 10s were passed for payment. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., forwarded statement of sales of wool sold on account of the club, showing net proceeds amounting to £26 6s sd.
