ASHBURTON MAN MISSING
Left Yesterday Morning for Rabbit Shooting. (Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, January 20. Considerable anxiety is being felt by relatives concerning the whereabouts of Hugh Gourlay, of 47, Suffolk Street East, Ashburton, who left his parents’ home at nine o’clock yesterday morning and has not returned. When he left he had with him a .22 calibre rifle with the intention of shooting rabbits in the riverbed, which is within a few minutes’ walk of his home. Search parties were out last night and again to-day, but up to midday there was no trace of the missing man. Gourlay, who was 25 years of age, was formerly an electric linesman, but was unemployed. The police description is that he is 5 feet 11 inches in height, of fairly heavy build, with dark brown wavy hair, a tanned complexion and brown eyes.
