ADDINGTON YARDS.

Fat Lambs Sell Steadily at Schedule Rates. GOOD BEEF YARDING. Yardings were substantial in the Important sections at the Metropolitan Market at Addington to-day. Fat lambs sold steadily at full schedule rates. Butchers' lambs were slightly easier. There was a large yarding of store lambs, which sold at last week’s values. The yarding of beef was of good quality and contained some outstanding lines. In spite of this, a dull sale resulted. Fat Lambs. Tlie yarding of fat lambs was substantial, but the quality was not outstanding. ‘The sale opened with values firm under brisk competition, but the demand for butchers’ lambs later fell ofT a little. Store Lambs. Entries of store lambs were again of moderate size, and included quite a few useful sorts. A lot of interest was shown in the sale, and there wag a. fairly steady demand throughout for all sorts, values being firm at last week’s rates. The offering included several station drafts of half-breds, and these sold quite well in comparison with the balance cf the yarding. Round about 6s and 7s was the value of the average class of lamb with a little size about it. One pen of forward cross-breds made 9f. Values were:— Good mixed sex lambs, to 9s. Medium mixed sex lambs, 7s to Bs. Ordinary mixed sex lambs, 5s to 6s 9d. Inferior mixed sex lambs, 3s 6d to 4s 9d. Fat Cattle. The entry of fat cattle was about 440 head, as compared with 484 head entered at the market of the previous week. The supply was from local sources, with the Peninsula heavily represented. The general quality was a big improvement upon recent markets and steers, which made up a very large portion of the entry, were especially notable for fine finish. There were nearly ten races of the supply which could be termed good prime beef. Cows were not penned in such great numbers as at earlier markets of the year. From the outset the sale was a dull one and th® supply was a great deal in excess of the demand. Values for steers receded by £1 a head throughout the auction, and cow beef was 10s to 15s a head cheaper. Early sales were:— On account of: H. D.
