Won East Sydney from Lang Supporter. United Pness Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received January 16, 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 16. The death was announced to-night of Mr J. J. Clisby, a United Australia Party candidate at the recent Federal election, who won the East Sydney seat from Mr E. J. Ward, a Lang-Plan-ner, by a narrow majority, after a thrilling contest, which evoked interest all over Australia. Mr Clisby, who was most popular, became seriously ill after the declaration of the poll, which was his last public appearance, and died of cerebral haemorrhage.
