Move to Provide Motorists’ Clubroom. (Special to the “Star.”) ASHBURTON, December 20. Negotiations are at present under Tvay by the Ashburton committee of the Canterbury Automobile Association
for the provision of modern clubrooms for the use of members of the C.A.A. and other similar associations. Members of the council of the C.A.A. recently paid a visit of inspection to several premises offered for this purpose and a report will be furnished at a later meeting. Welcome Rain. Bright sultry weather was experienced in Ashburton on Saturday forenoon. Early in the afternoon the sky
; became heavily overcast and loud peals of thunder continued at intervals until late in the day. Several light showers fell but there was not sufficient to cause an abandonment of outdoor ■ games. In some parts of the district, however, there was a heavy downpour. At Winchmore the rain came down in torrents and a portion of the main road leading to Methven was under sheets of water for some time after the deluge.
