BROADSIDING.

English Riders will Compete To-morrow. A very full and satisfying programme of broadsiding has been set down for decision at Monica Park Speedway tomorrow night, and the record crowd expected should be provided with a thrilling display of the sport at its best. There is a very long list of events and the calibre of the riders competing is of a particularly high order. The fact that Wally Hull and Sid Jackson, the clever English test match riders, put up such surprisingly good times at the last meeting gives rise to speculation on the limit of their speed to-morrow. .Both are forceful, stylish riders. Then there is Charlie Blacklock, whose sensational performances last year will be remembered. He returns after a season in England, where he rode in select company. In addition, Reg Ranby, the speedy Wellington grass and dirt track rider, will appear, and ample competition of a vigorous, speedy kind will be provided for all comers by Percy Lunn. Norman Gray. “Shorty” Wicks, and the other very competent Canterbury riders. Special interest attaches to the meeting of Gray and Lunn in the first series of races for the coveted Chevrolet Gold Helmet. Both are riding extremely well and their times have been fast and even so far. In addition to the Gold Helmet race, there will be the first and second division handicaps, Big Nine scratch race, the novice handicap and a novelty event. Special music will complete a first-class open-air entertainment of close contests and thrills.
