Management Committee Holds Meeting. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Horticultural Society met last evening, Mr O. W. E. He said that the residents were to be congratulated on their displays. The judges had been asked to return in the autumn. In reporting on the hills garden competition, Mr W. Balch said that there was a lack of hill plants. It was decided that in future judges should appoint one of their number to make a written report, as it would help in better conduct in subsequent years. It was reported that Mr Barnett had donated a handsome trophy for the rock garden competition next year. Twenty-two new members were elected and three resignations accepted. It was decided that the sum of three guineas be given to Mr Dalton’s assistant as a Christmas present in recognition of her extra work during the year. It was decided to hold a competition at the National Show for district displays.
