Lady Pam and Spearful are Going Well. STANCHION COMING ON. (Special to the “ Star.”) MASTERTON, December 18. Mr J. A. Betts has established a string of horses at Masterton, and has placed them in the charge of W. Bennett. Spearful has been galloping well on the track, and should be fit for the Wairarapa meeting. Lady Pam has been showing muchimproved form on the track, and should do well at the holiday meetings. She has done one or two exceptionally good gallops recently. Stanchion is training on well and is undergoing a special preparation for the Wairarapa meeting. Royal Opera has been striding along satisfactorily and is expected to get into the money at Tauherenikau. Autopay is galloping well, and may make the trip to Awapuni, and then to Tauherenikau. The Woodville Jockey Club expects to make a small profit on its recent meeting. The first day’s totalisator takings saved the situation. Sir Pombal, who ran well at Woodville, is improving in his track work, and should be heard of at the Wairarapa meeting. Retract has been doing so well on the track that the Lord Quex gelding is expected to be well in the money at the Wairarapa meeting. He is showing staying power.
Tunbridge ran very well at Woodville, and may be a winner ere long.
