HEAVY WEATHER AT SEA.

Maunganui Delayed on Run From Sydney. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 15. Southerly jales accompanied by driving rain and heavy seas delayed the intercolonial steamer Maunganui in its run from Sydney to Wellington. The vessel was scheduled to arrive in port at 6 a.m. to-day but did not anchor until 4 p.m. The passengers emphatically agreed, and her officers casually admitted, that the trip was one of the worst experienced by the Maunganui for a long time Not long after the ship left Sydney it ran into heavy weather, which did not abate until this afternoon. For several days the seas were so high that spray was breaking over the smoke room on the top deck, while the lower decks were at times dangerous to walk upon.
