OFFICERS IN FO’C'SLE.

Qualified Men Work Ship Home. (Received December 14, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 13. The “ Sunday Express ” says that the Port Gisborne arrived at Hull from New Zealand with eighteen young qualified ship’s officers serving in the fo’c’sle because no posts were available. The senior officers said that the young men entered sportingly into the contract, had no privileges, and lived the same life as ordinary seamen. The t scheme had the approval of the National Union of Seamen, but it was feared that Australian unions had not approved. It is stated that all of them signed on for Australia this week.
