Crops Badly in Need of Rain. (Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, December 13. The welcome visitation freshened up crops and vegetation considerably, but all signs of the rain rapidly vanished under the hot rays of the sun, and the northeasterly wind which prevailed to-day. According to reports from districts where the land is light the wheat crops will not be worth harvesting. Cycle Road Race. North, D.D. (principal of the New Zealand Baptist College, Auckland) conducted the services at the Baptist Church to-day.
