BROADSIDING.

Season Opens on Saturday Night.

The 1931-32 broadsiding season will open at Monica Park Speedway on Saturday night with a special series of races, in which notable riders from England, Dunedin and Canterbury will compete. There will be twenty-nine riders in fast and furious action, and the many practices held In the past fortnight make it clear that there will be an exceedingly competent set of competitors. The chief attraction will be the debut of two distinguished English test riders, Sid Jackson, captain of the Coventrv League team, and Wally Hull, star performer at Belle Vue, Manchester. They come with a big reputation for speed and risk-taking, and are under contract to Monica Park. In addition to these experts, Jim Nesbit, Lionel Hower and Peter Lyders, of Dunedin, will compete, and of the Canterbury riders, Percy Lunn, Jack Oakley, Norman Gray and Eric Pyke will be out after the honours. Re-formation of the track has been carried out, and on the corners a special grit has been used instead of cinders. Reduced prices are announced as follow: Stand 2s 6d, stadium Is 6d and 2s, children 9d and Is 3d, plus tax on 2s and 2s 6d seats. The entrance to the Is 6d seats is through the car park at the north-west corner. The box plan is at Lange’s, United Service Corner, until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
