FISHERMAN FLEES.
Chased from Pa by Ratana Followers. TRADE EMBARGO IMPOSED. (Special to the ** Star.”} WANGANUI, November 25. There is a % general wail among busiless men in Wanganui owing to an embargo having been put on Wanganui by Ratana, whose followers are not allowed to trade with Wanganui. This is the result of the recent prosecution of Ratana. There are some 600 permanent residents of the pa, besides a large number of others, resident in the district, and most of their trade came to Wanganui. Some four years ago a similar embargo was put on. Marton is now rejoicing that the business has been deflected in that direction. There was a humorous setting at Ratana yesterday when a Wanganui fishmonger went out with his cart well loaded up with shark and other delicacies, and was chased outside the gates.
