HOSPITAL NURSES.

Changes in Staff Approved by Board. Many changes in the nursing staff at the Christchurch Hospital were approved by the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday. The resignations of Staff Nurses Fisher, M. Gibson, F. Ward, M. Gudsell, C. Gilchrist, C. Alloway, I. Fairweather and W. Davies, who had completed their contracts, were accepted. Nurse M. Spencer also resigned. Miss M. Broughan, matron of the Leeston Hospital, who has successfully occupied that position for a number of years, tendered her resignation, which was accepted. Sister Clarke, of the Oxford Hospital, was transferred to Leeston; Sister Green, late of Waikari, to Oxford, leaving Miss Ives at Waikari Hospital for the present. Sister Knight, who is away on leave, was granted a further period of six months’ leave of absence. Sister Braithwaite was reported to have returned after twelve months’ leave of absence. It was reported that thirty-one nurses sat for the final hospital examination and thirty were successful in obtaining their hospital certificates and were eligible to sit for the State examination the first week in December. Miss Ellen Houston, who had been relieving at the Lyttelton Casualty Ward, was going to the Chatham Islands to relieve Sister White for holidays. Staff Nurse Pickering was temporarily in charge at the Lyttelton Maternity Hospital whilst Miss Gooding was on sick leave and holiday.
