PERSONAL.

Mr J. H. Stewart (Auckland) is staying at Warner's Hotel. Mr A. D. Park, Secretary to the Treasury (Wellington), arrived in Christchurch this morning, and leaves for Dunedin to-morrow. , Councillor A. E. Lawry was appointed Deputy-Mayor at last night's meeting of the New Brighton Borough Council. Messrs H. L. Williams (Melbourne), M. S. Myers (Dunedin), T. G. Haycock and E. J. Fuller (Wellington) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Messrs A. Bailey (Auckland), E. C. Fletcher (Timaru) and W. E. Norton (Greymouth) are registered at the New City Hotel. Mr Gavin D. Lishxnan, of the High Commissioner’s Office, London, was a passenger by yesterday’s ferry and left later for Dunedin. Messrs W. L. Whitcombe, J. Stephenson, H. Green, R. Burns and Dr Reakes were among the passengers by the ferry steamer this morning. Mr R. Chamberlain, South Island examiner for the Trinity College of London, arrived from the south yesterday and is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. He expects to remain in Christchurch for a week. Messrs H. H. Sterling, general manager, New Zealand Railways, E. H. Newman, Railway Board, E. T. Spidey and J. H. Bell, of the Railway Department, arrived in Christchurch this morning and are staying at the United Service Hotel. The Venerable Archdeacon Dart has tendered his resignation of the parish of All Saints, Nelson, which the Bishop has received and accepted with very great regret. For some time past the Archdeacon has been suffering from illhealth, but hopes that by being relieved frbm the responsibilities of parochial life, and after a rest for some time he will be able to resume some of his ministerial work.
