AUCKLAND BUSINESS. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, October 6. A fair degree of activity continues on the local Stock Exchange. A good number of sales have bene made during the last twenty-four hours. The chief feature of the latest trading lias been the sudden easing of Bank of New Zealand shares, which after sales at £2 4s yesterday morning, changed hands in the afternoon and again this morning at £2 3s 6d. There is still a fair demand for Government Stocks. At the ten o’clock call, £95 was available for the 55 per cents (1937), but buyers of tax free stocks dropped to £92 15s. There was a fair inquiry in the coal section on a lower level of prices. Pukemiros were asked for at £1 6s, Taupiri prefs. at 20s and Westports at 21s 9d. OTHER EXCHANGES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 6. Activity continued on the Stock Exchange during the morning, and at the noon call a number of fresh sales were recorded. Bank of New Zealands eased further, with a sale at 43s 3d, and more were available at that figure. South British Insurance were bought 3d cheaper, at 50s 6d, but thereafter holders retired to 51s.
