Lent or Loaned?

To the Editor. Dear Sir,—Bein'* interested in the paragraph conducted by “ Touchstone,” will you please get the correct rendering of the word lend. I noticed in the “ Star ” the following:—“He was loaned to” and “it was loaned to.” According to the new Oxford Dictionary that word is wrong, “he was lent to ” being, according to the al>ove dictionary, correct, and to lend was to make a loan. I w’ould like to get “Touchstone’s” opinion.—I am, etc., FIAT LUX.
