Mr and Mrs P. Fahey, Hanmer Springs, left last night for Wellington. Mrs E. Witty, Richmond, left Christchurch this morning for Nelson. Miss E. Martin, Dunedin, is a guest at Warner’s Hotel. Miss Aline Memmott has left to spend a holiday with relatives in Auckland and Wellington. Miss MacMillan, Dunedin, arrived in Christchurch yesterday and left later for the north. Mrs Kenneth Murchison, Lake Coleridge, will arrive this week to be the guest of Mrs G. D. M’llraith, Fendalton. The Rev H. N. Roberts and Miss Roberts, Hororata, will be the guests of Mr and Mrs E. H. S. Hamilton, Papanui Road, for the Synod. The Rev J. F. C.oursey and Mrs Coursey, Geraldine, will be the guests of Bishop and Mrs C. West-Watson at Bishopscourt for the Synod. Miss F. Douglas will leave on Monday for Auckland and will sail by the Niagara to visit relatives in Bellingham, Washington. Mrs N. Von Sturmer and Miss E. R. Wilson have been appointed Government representatives on the Auckland Women’s Unemployment Committee.
Miss Rosalie Newth, who has recently returned from Wellington, and Miss Joan Owens are the guests of Miss Gladys Vernall, Fendalton. Mr and Mrs Engelsteed left Christchurch last night for Wellington to sail by the Ulimaroa to Sydney, thence by the Temeraire for Sweden. Dr Ada Paterson (Wellington), Mrs de Courcy and Miss Russell (Auckland) are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mrs E. E. Gillers and Miss Betty Gillers (Culverden) and Mr and Mrs W. A. Solomon (Dunedin) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mrs George Reid, “ Grassington,” Rotherham, who has been staying with Miss I. Cowlishaw, Knowles Street, for the golf tournament, returned home today. The latest arrivals at the Hotel Federal include: Miss M. Burford (Timaru), Mr F. Broadbanks (Auckland) and Mr and Mrs Cannington (Nelson). Mr and Mrs J. Catherwood and Miss Maida Catherwood, Christchurch, who have been on an extended trip overseas, will arrive in Christchurch on Saturday morning. Guests at Stonehurst Private Hotel, Latimer Square, include: Mr and Mrs Lapsley (Perth. Australia), Miss Livingstone (Auckland), Mr Cade (Christchurch), Mr and Miss Harrison (Wanganui), Mrs Holmes (Wellington). Recent guests at the Franz Josef Glacier Hotel, Waiho Gorge, include: Mr Kelly (London), Mr V. C. Lawn (Wellington), Mr Truman, Mr and Mrs Simmers, Mr and Mrs A. V.
