DANCE RECITAL.
Pupils of Miss Margery Myers. The pupils of Miss Margery Myers will hold their annual dance recital in the Civic, Theatre on Wednesday night, when a varied programme of concerted items and solos will be presented by a large band of clever artists. Jessie Dickson will be seen in two solos, widely differing in character, “ A Vision of the East ” and a tap dance, while Kathleen Mathews will shine in an acrobatic dance. These two will also take part in a clever pas de deux. Joan Meikle’s dainty toe work will be appreciated in an operatic solo. Other soloists will include Joan Hughes, Esther Hollander, Ruth Hollander, Cecil Harris, Leslie Ballin, June Beadel and Judy Hen wood. The comedy touch will be provided by Billy and Bey Hughes, in a “ Mickey the Mouse ” duo, also with Esther and Ruth Hollander, Janet Calvert and Jill Baker, in “ The Sailor’s Sweetheart”. Among the concerted items are a popular tap ballet, butterfly ballet, balloon dance, Russian ballet and Dutch ballet. The “ Invitation to the Waltz ” is a showy number, while “ Anitra’s Dance ” provides something new. “ Fairy Rings ” is a story ballet, introducing the company, Kathleen Mathews is the Queen of the Fairies, Jessie Dickson the mortal who strayed to Fairyland, and Joan Meikle the fairy who loves him. In this ballet the hoop dance forms a very attractive feature.
