Manufacturers’ Advice to Committee. MORE EVIDENCE HEARD. (Special to tlic " Star. *> WELLINGTON. September 2. The Inter-Partv Finance Committee to-day heard evidence from Mr Speirs, president of Ihe New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association, and Mr F. C. Campbell, past president. They urged further encouragement of secondary industries in the national interest and to assist in alleviating the unemployment problem. Mr A. C. Mitchell, president of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, followed and was under cross-examina-tion when the committee adjourned for luncheon. Mr T. O. Bishop, secretary of the Employers’ Federation, will make a statement during the afternoon and will be followed by Mr F. D. Cornwell, president of the Trades and Labour Council Federatioif. The committee had intended to take the evidence of Mr J. Roberts, secretary of the Alliance of Labour, but this witness was unable to appear. He will be heard on Monday.
