YOUTH FOUND GUILTY.

Sequel to Girl’s Escape from Institution. Charged in the Supreme Court to-day with an attempt to commit an offence against a female inmate of a State institution, Alan Hirst, of Sydenham, twenty-two years of age, was found guilty. On another issue put to the jury that he attempted to commit the offence knowing the girl to be an inmate of an institution, he was found not guilty. Mr Justice Adams was on the Bench. Mr Brown conducted the case for the Crown, and Mr Sargent appeared for accused, who pleaded not guilty. A girl who stated that she had escaped from the Burwood Home in April last gave evidence in respect to the charge of the attempted offence. She admitted that she had not told accused ho she was or where she was from. ' far as the girl knew, the accused r not know that she was from the irst was remanded for sentence.
