BOMBING PRACTICE.

An application for permission to hold bombing and machine-gun practice over an area at Lake Ellesmere was received at the meeting of the council ol' the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society last night. The necessary authorisation was given for a day at the end of this month, under the same conditions and over the same area as decided two years ago. The president (Mr C. H. Lawrence) said that he had received the application from Flight-Lieutenant H. B. Burrell. Dummy bombs would be used and the practice would occupy only one or two days. Permission had been given two years ago. The practice was most important for training and the Air Force hoped to get it off on August 27 28 or 29.
