The Work of Christchurch Ladies WONDERFUL DISPLAY OF HANDWORKED APRONS THE Needlework Competition recently conducted by Hay's Limited has proved very popular, and hundreds of beautifully-worked Aprons have been received for Competition. The judging is taking place to-day, and the winners will be announced in Hay’s Limited to-morrow. All the work is of such a high order that it has been decided to have a big display of the Aprons, and this will be arranged in the old English Village upstairs at Hay’s. Many Christchurch ladies will be interested in the display, and a cordial invitation is extended to everyone to inspect it. HOW TO SAVE YOUR HOSIERY. The wise woman these days sees to it that when a ladder appears in a Silk Stocking it is immediately sent to Hay’s Limited to be repaired. Hay’s have special machines for repairing and reconditioning Silk Stockings, and with the aid of these machines a single ladder can be repaired for 9d, and the stocking re-conditioned and returned like new. MAKE YOUR OWN DRESSES. With the aid of individually cut paper patterns, cut to any style, it is possible for even the most inexperienced home dressmaker to get excellent results. Hay’s Ltd. have a Special Dress Pattern Cutting Department, where you may get patterns cut to your individual measurements, and if you so desire can get the material cut, tacked and fitted, all for a very moderate cost. “ GOLDEN ARROW SPECIAL.” The “ Golden Arrow Special ” at Hay’s Limited this week is a range of Alarm Clocks, excellent timekeepers, available in several different colours, and priced at 5/11. The Clocks are a real bargain at the money, the ordinary price being 7/11. WOMEN’S SPHERE CHALLENGED. A touch of humour has been introduced into Hay’s Needlework Competition by an entry from a man, who makes the following remark: “ Did not know a single stitch, but watched the wife doing her entry. Selected my own colours. I am very pleased with the job myself, but the wife is going to have it framed as a warning to all men not to interfere with work that is women’s.”
