HUIA AND CARNIVAL.

With the attractions of a Maori huia, tug-of-war competitions, gaily-decorated stalls and “ all the fun of the fair,” the Greencourts carnival, in aid of the funds of the Elmwood Bowling Club and the Wesley Lawn Tennis Club, promises to be a very successful enterprise. The red. white and blue decorations, the many-coloured dresses of the women helpers and the cries of the side-show men created a festive atmosphere in the Caledonian Hall on Thursday and Friday, adding considerably to the enjoyment of people who attended. The Maori huia is a highly Interesting performance, the poi dances of the , girls being especially good. Next on the programme are the tug-of-war competitions, the final of which will be decided this evening. To-night, at 7.30. the final performance will be given.
