Only Four out of Eleven Starters Finish

Course.

IN AN EXCITING RACE, Copey beat Wiltshire in the Lincoln Steeples to-day by half a length. Snowfall was third, and Tunamoe was the only other horse to finish the course. The weather was fine and sunny, and the attendance was fair. * The track was in excellent order.

Pangolin and French Fleet jumped past Silver Light at.the post and rails and at the Kennels French Fleet was showing the way to Pangolin. Silver Light, Taramoa and Thurina. who were following in that order. Thurina was just behind French Fleet and Pangolin at the top of the straight. Thurina then moved up and led over the last fence, beating French Fleet easily by three lengths. Pangolin was two lengths away, with Diamond Jack finishing fast three lengths further back. move, and at the six furlong post Prince Lu was six lengths in front of Overhaul, Conjurer 11. and Amorist, with High Pitch heading the others. A furlong further on Amorist was in second place, and he followed Prince Lu round the home turn, where he dropped out again. Prince Lu was well clear of Nukumai, Overhaul and High Pitch at the last hurdle, and he won easily by three lengths. High Pitch finished best of the others, beating Nukumai by a length, Overhaul being two lengths further back. Time—3min 41sec. Tucker) 0 Apache, Rameses and Huntley were together over the first hurdle, when Huntley took charge, leading Rameses and Apache out of the straight, Paquito being a long way in the rear. Huntley and Apache were together at the mile post, just clear of Rameses and Galllvanter. Two furlongs further on Rameses moved up and joined Huntley in the lead. Rameses then took charge, and at the home turn was showing out from Huntley and Apache, with Gallivanter next. Aladdin was a good way back at this stage, but was starting to move up. There was not much to choose between Rameses, Huntley and Apache at the last hurdle, Gallivanter and Aladdin being next. Apache fnded out in the run home and an exciting finish resulted in Huntley beating Rameses by a head. Aladdin, finishing strongly was a length away. Gallivanter being a length further back, just in front of Apache. Time—2min 5 7sec.

Bon Aryan after joining Tunamoe in second place behind Dark Prince at the sod wall, lost his rider at the next fence. Omeo fell at the fence near the carriage paddock, bringing Tuki down. Dark Prince, Tunamoe, and Wiltshire were in line at the Stand double with Lucess, Copey and Snowfall two lengths away. Wiltshire led this bunch over Cutts’ and round to the sod wall, where Lucess fell. Paris, who had dropped back leaving the straight, moved up again at the post and rails. Snowfall joined Wiltshire in the lead after jumping the Kennels double, Paris, Copey, and Tunamoe being next. Dark Prince lost his rider at the sod wall, and Paris went out at the straight where Snowfall and Wiltshire were just clear of Copey. Copey and Wiltshire led Snowfall over the last fence and an exciting finish between the two leaders resulted in Copey beating Wiltshire by half a length. Snowfall was ten lengths away with Matu some distance back fourth, the only other to finish. Tunamoe was pulled up at the top of the straight. Time—smin 53sec. LINCOLN PLACINGS.

Historic and Meprisant drew away at the distance. Historic winning by a length. Mahora was two lengths away third, with Mount Boa. finishing fast, in fourth place, a neck in front of Great Star.
