EVENTS AT NEW BRIGHTON. The New Zealand W T htppet Racing Club held its winter meeting at New Brighton this afternoon, when there was a good attendance of spectators. The following were the results of the finals in the four events contested:— GRAND NATIONAL HURDLES HANDICAP, 200 yards. J. F. Wing’s Darknite (21yds) ] Mrs C. S. Forbes's Grev Streak (35yds) 2 V. J. Drake’s Golden Arrow (I7vds) 3 Won by half a length, with a head between second and third. A remarkably fast race. Time—l2 9-10 see. AUGUST LIGHT-WEIGHT HANDICAP. 200 yards. Restricted to dogs 201 b and under. J. R. D. Johns’s Silver Bird (33yds) 1 L C. Fern’s and J. Watson's Tootie Mahru (33yds) 2 L. Holbrough’s and L. Curry’s Joybird (32yds) 3 Won by half a length, with a similar distance between second and third. Time—ll 4-ssec. WINTER CUP FLAT HANDICAP, 200 yards, with a limit of 20 yards. J. R. D. Johns’s Fleetwing (18yds) . . 1 Mrs F. E. Biltcliff’s Captain Jean 1 (20yds) 2 I J- F. Wing's Darknite (20yds) .... 3, Won by a nose, with a neck between second and third.
