NO FREE MONEY.

Loans Granted to Persons in ’Quake Area. BOARD’S DECISION. Per Press Association. NAPIER, August 15. Decisions reached regarding applications for financial assistance in the earthquake area have been communicated to over twenty claimants. It appears that no grants of free money will be paid by the Rehabilitation Board, but applicants have been granted loans carrying interest at 4* per cent, repayment to be spread over periods ranging between twenty and thirty years according to the state of the applicant’s affairs. In every case, there is a period of from three to five years, immediately after the granting of assistance, during which no interest will be charged. The offers have created a most favourable impression in Napier.
