Labour and Communism.

To thte Editor. Dear Sir,—l extend to 8/3859 that tolerance which is necessary' when he parades his ignorance and hostility to the Communists. He fails to recognise there is no roy'al road to success, and progress through the ages has been won only through sacrifice. Had not rules aad regulations been violated with an indifference bordering upon contempt, progress as we have known it would not be known. Actuated and driven on with the knowledge that it is absolutely' necessary to challenge public opinion and persecution, the Communists cheerfully bring their policy' forward and the “ local group ” was never in such a flourishing condition. If the Labour Party is sincere in advocating the cause of the workers, why the refusal to allow the anti-war demonstration to take place and why the brutal attitude displayed by the police force in its attempt to forcibly prevent a demonstration which is in line with their reasoning? Why the silence maintained? Perhaps 8/3859 can explain the reason of no opposition to the demonstration in Wellington and Aucklard where they’ have in power men of political thought opposed to the workers. The Labour City Council has a charge against its integrity. Will they' come forward and disabuse the minds of the workers who have every cause to question their sincerity?—l am, etc., A.C.E.
