The Rev R. Ross, pastor cf the leading San Pedro Episcopal Church, will shortly visit- Christchurch. Messrs W. B. Watkins (Nelson), L. Erickson (Oamaru) and T. Leighton (Hawke’s Bay) are among the guests at the Royal Hotel. 0
Professor D. B. Copland, the Rev B. Blair and the Rev Father Foy were passengers by the ferry steamer this morning.
Messrs IT. T. Armstrong, M.P., T. Dwan, C. C. Bradley, A. M. Burns and D. A. M’Lean arrived from Wellington by the ferry steamer this morning. Although Flying-Officer Arnold Wall, who is with the Royal Air Force in India, has had to suffer the removal of his right eye following an accident, he is making satisfactory progress. Advice to this effect was received yesterday by his father. Professor Arnold Wall, of Canterbury College, from the" Air Ministry, London. The operation, the cable stated, had been successful. Flying-Officer Wall is now in the Military Hospital at Raznak, India. The Rev B. M. Wilson, the president of the Canterbury Baptist Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, left last night for Wellington to join the Monowai for Sydney. Mr Wilson is one of the selected speakers at the Jubilee Christian Endeavour gatherings which will begin in the Sydney Town Hall on August 18. Besides the thousands in attendance from Sydney and suburbs, over 1000 delegates from other States are already booked. At its meeting last Monday the Christchurch Ministers’ Association extended its greetings and best wishes to Mr Wilson on his Australian visit.
