TO BE BROADCAST-
Matches of Australian Rugby Tour. (Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, August 14. In response to a letter from Mr A. R. Harris, general manager of the New Zealand Radio Broadcasting Company, Ltd., and an inquiry upon the same subject by the Canterbury Rugby Union, the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union decided to allow descriptions to be broadcast of the test match against the Australian team at Auckland on September 12; the match, Maoris v. Australia, at Palmerston North, on September 9; and the match between the North and South Island teams at Athletic Park on Saturday. As to the other matches to be played by the Australian team in New- Zealand, the question of giving permission to the Broadcasting Company to broadcast descriptions was left to the discretion of the unions concerned. In connection with the match against the Australian team at Wellington, a letter from the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union raised the question as to whether the Wellington clubs would be allowed to have preferential booking of a number of seats, to be booked at the same time as the season ticket holders book theirs, but in a different part of the grandstand. It was decided to reply that the matter was one of purely local control.
