LEAGUE MATCHES.

Linwood and Sydenham at Monica Park. THACKER SHIELD GAMES. The chief attraction in the League Rugby Thacker Shield competition tomorrow will be the meeting of Linwood and Sydenham at Monica Park. Both sides have had a win and, with Addington, are at the head of the table. Starting at 2.45 p.m., to-morrow’s games will be:— Sydenham v Linwood, at Monica Park. Riccarton v Addington, at Hagley W est. Hornby A v Hornby B, at Hornby Close Game Possible.

The result of the Linwood v Sydenham match is no foregone conclusion, for the former team will be without its best back and forward as R. Jorgensen and M. Smith are playing in the inter-island game at Auckland. Otherwise, providing the other attractions of Grand National Week do not prove too strong, a moderately good side should be put in the field. F. Jackson is down to play at full-back, but he will probably gravitate to centre or five-eighths. The forwards are an even lot and will have the responsibility of keeping the dashing Sydenham backs quiet. The Sydenham men have improved a good deal lately and a fast back line now supports a hard-working pack. There is still room, however, for improvement in the acquirement of better combination. Addington will be depleted against Riccarton and the back line, with Jim Amos and George Falgar absent, is a doubtful quantity. Riccarton have a good chance of notching a win, but will have to look out for the Addington forwards and prevent a repetition of the strong finish put in by Adding- ’ ton in the last rough and tumble meeting of these two thirteens.

The Hornby A-Hornby B go should be a close affair, though the A team has not suffered severely through the South Island team plaving at Auckland. Palamountain will be the only man awav on this account, although his absence will certainly be felt. Senior Teams. Senior teams will be chosen from the following:— Addington.—B. O’Connell, W. Stuart, L. Amos, R. Scott, F. Larsen, A. Campbell, A. Peddie, R. Ward, L. Brownie, F. Flanagan, D. Crowe, S. Jordan, and another. Linwood.—F. Jackson. N. Gillespie, W. Moorhead, F. Pooley, C.
