MISSIONARY FAREWELLED.
Members of the Dominion executive of the Presbyterian Missionary Union met yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Nurse E. H. Elliott, of the Missions Hospital staff, Jagadhri, Punjab, India, who is returning after furlough. The tables were prettily decorated with wattle and spring flowers. After tea had been served, Miss C. Henderson, Dominion president, in conveying the good wishes of the union, spoke of having first met Elliott in 1924, while on a visit to her sister in Jagadhri, and of having seen the wonderful work that she was doing there Nurse Elliott had gained the love of all with whom she came in contact, and could be assured of the lasting interest and sympathy of P.W.M.U. members. Miss Henderson then presented the guest of honour with a beautiful bouquet of spring flowers. Mrs M. M’Leod and Mrs J. Fitzgerald also conveyed good wishes. Nurse Elliott, in reply, said that it was a great inspiration to a missionary to meet workers at home, and she would go back with the refreshing memory of the sympathy of women in the churches throughout New Zealand. Nurse Elliott leaves Wellington today for Melbourne, where she will spend a month’s refresher course in hos %»als before returning to India.
