Owing to a serious drop in all rev- = enue last season the Auckland Racing e Club has decided to make a drastic ree duction in stake money for the spring - meeting and also in the principal hane dicaps at the summer meeting. t The total prize money for the spring - meeting has been reduced from £3300 to £7300. The principal reductions are 'j in the Mitchelson Cup, which is now _ £IOOO, and the Welcome Stakes, £650. The Auckland Cup at the summer ~ l meeting will be reduced from £3OOO to j £2OOO, the Railway Handicap from £1250 ,to £IOOO, the Summer Cup from £IOOO to £BSO, the Racing Club Handicap from £ISOO to £IOOO, the Grandstand Handicap from £IOOO to £BSO. Weight-for-age races remain the same as last season, but the remainder of the summer programme will be considered after the spring meeting. TOTE FIGURES DROP. A decrease of £10,593 10s was recorded in the totaiisator turnover at Riccarton yesterday, as compared with the same day last j f ear.
