RUMOUR DENIED.

No Money was Missed from Tote Yesterday.

A persistent rumour going the rounds at Addington to-day to the effect chat a sum of money, amounting, according to one story, to £3OO, had been stolen from the totaiisator at Riccarton yesterday, is stated to have no foundation in fact.

Mr F. C. Cother, secretary of the Canterbury Jockey Club, stated this afternoon that all takings were accounted for at the close of the day. The rumour had probably started, he said, owing to the fact that the totaiisator staff were held back for a while owing to the loss of one box. After a short period, however, it was found intact.
