FIGHTING IN BERLIN.
Communists Clash with Police. COLOGNE TERRIFIED. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, August 12. Street fighting has again broken out, being resumed by the Communists. One of them was critically wounded when sniping at the police from the top of a house. A threat to murder the commander of the police forces was painted on the roadway at the suburb of Weissensee. Revolver shots fired at a torchlight procession at Cologne started serious rioting in which a number of Communists engaged, necessitating police intervention. The latter fired high in order to scatter the rioters, some of whom replied with their revolvers. The casualties are not yet known, but they are believed to be heavy. Many arrests w r ere made, but the firing continued. The public are in a state of terror, but the police say that the situation was in hand this morning.
