One Thousand Unemployed Take Fence Pickets as Weapons.

Baton charges by thirty policemen dispersed a crowd of about 1000 unemployed who assembled at a Fitzroy house and threatened to cause trouble over the eviction of a family for non-payment of rent.
The unemployed tore pickets from fences and were about to attack a police sergeant and a bailiff when the police cars arrived.
