Grand National Events at Riccarton. PARIS WINS BEAUFORT. The Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting was continued at Riccarton to-day. The weather in the morning was threatening, and light showers fell. The sky cleared later, and conditions were very pleasant when racing commenced. . The attendance was not as large as ft was on the first day. -- HUNT CUP. Pangolin and Thurina led over Cutts’s and along the back, the field being in close order at the Kennels double. Thurina had a slight advantage at the second last fence, and at the last fence he was a length in front of King’s Counsel, Pangolin and Taramoa, with Calham handy. Thurina held his place and won bv two lengths from King’s Counsel, who beat Taramoa by half a length. Pangolin was a neck further back, with Calham close up. Time—smin ISsec. Grecian Prince began smartlv. while the colours of Full Cron, Awamutu. Knollmere. and Ringing Cheer were also prominent when the fDld settled down. Ringing Cheer took charge when the r-ourse proper was reached, with Sol wit, Knollmere and Full Cronin the next bunch. Ringing Cheer held his place to finish winning by two lengths from Solwit. who stalled off a late run from Moorbird by half a length. Gallivanter tired in the run home, leaving Aladdin to beat Rameses comfortably by two lengths, while Panther, a length and a half away, got up to beat Gallivanter by a neck. Time—3min 13 2-ssec.
