Tim aru Man Appears on Conversion Charge. (Special to the “Star.’’> TIM ARU, August 12. Taking a car from Watson’s garage, where he rented a room, James Hudson Brown, aged .34, a war pensioner, ran into a bank at Brooklands Hill and damaged the car to the extent of £27 0s 3d. He appeared to-day charged with converting to his own use a car belonging to Sims, Cooper and Co. The submissions of accused's counsel that Brown was on very good term-: with the garage proprietor, who at various times had lent him cars, and would have done so on this occasion had he been requested, resulted in Brown being ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve I months, a special condition being that j he refrain from liquor in that period. | Mr C. R. Orr-Walker. said it | was only fair to accused and the Govlernment, who paid him an economic ; pension, that he should abstain from liquor.
