REDUCED PETROL PRICES.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, August U. No reduction in the retail price of petrol is being made, according to a statement issued by the petrol section of the Wellington Motor Trade Association. Explaining why the rebate of Id a gallon by wholesalers is not passed on to the public, the association says that in November last retailers reduced the price by Id without receiving a commensurate reduction from the main oil companies. Many stations found it difficult to carry on at this price with the altered trading system
recently introduced by the companies, by which credit terms were reduced to a half-monthly basis, therefore retailers find it impossible to pass on the recent reduction made in the wholesale price. Some service stations, however, are advertising a reduction.
