CREDITS FOR GERMANY.
International Committee Meets at Basle. United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, August 10. There was a meeting to-day at Basle of the committee of banking experts which the Seven-Power Conference, on July 23, requested the Bank of International Settlements “ to set up to inquire into the immediate further credit needs of Germany, and to study the conversion of short-term credits into long-term.” The committee consists of representatives nominated by the governors of the central banks and is presided over by Mr Albert Wiggin, United States member. The committee took note of the direct negotiations now proceeding between London, New York, Paris and Zurich, and reached the conclusion that no decision should be taken until the results of these negotiations are known. The British member is Sir Walter Layton, editor of “The Economist.”
