STAKES ARE HELD UP.

Committee’s Action After Wrestling Bout.

er Press Association. WHANGAREI, August 11

A packed attendance in the Town Flail last night witnessed Tom Lurich and Scotty M’Dougall wrestle a draw with one fall each. Lurich scored the first with a body scissors in the fourth round. In the seventh M’Dougall threw his opponent through the ropes, and on his return pinned him with a body press. The exhibition was very disappointing. Many spectators accompanied it with hoots, groans, cat-calls and counting out.

A draw was declared after the end of; the eighth round. The local committee then held an emergency meeting and decided to impound the stakes and send a protest to the New Zealand Council for the latter’s ruling.
